It climbs to 6th gear before reaching 60km/hr (40mph), even in Sport driving mode, when it should only be in 3rd gear. Unless you are very light on the throttle, you can hear the bang/knock as the car tries to skip through multiple gears. The gremlin is that the car gears the transmission upwards too early, before the RPM’s can climb normally, and unless the throttle is very light, it gears up violently as it skips quickly through gears before the RPM’s can even climb. So the car is a 2008 Audi S4, with the six speed Tiptrontic, which I believe is the “6HP19A” transmission. A noteworthy percentage of transmissions are replaced just to find out that the problem is still there, so I would like to consider what is actually wrong before even considering replacing the transmission. Blaming the transmission and suggesting replacement seems dismissive and “safe” for if you don’t know what inputs that a transmission uses to make shifting decisions.
Like from a sensor which is on the way out, or needs to be recalibrated. I think that the transmission is getting an input from the car somewhere, which is causing the transmission to be confused. This gremlin seems like an input / signal problem. Like I said, it drives perfectly fine after resetting the fuzzy logic, but that is only good for a little while. Before anything else, I just want to say thanks to everyone who reads this through and offers any experience, insight, input, opinion, etc, BUT, I don’t think that I have a problem with my transmission itself, or a problem with the transmission’s valve body or solenoids. I have already checked out all of the boost related controls and there are no mechanical issues with the engine. I'd just like to be able to drive this like a normal car, like it drives right after the fuzzy logic has been reset.
Would somebody be so kind as to help me find / provide this information? I am resetting the fuzzy logic on a daily basis right now, because the transmission seems convinced that I am a 100-year-old mattress salesman, and when I stomp on it there is (literally) a 2-5 second delay before it goes, and this has almost caused a couple of accidents now. Or rather, "adaptation - 07" is greyed out, and under function 10 it just says everything is not available, I assume this means I need to log in first?
I have seen this in a thread a couple of months ago (the thread could be even older than that), and it was mentioned that if you don't disable the learning function that it will not stay in sport mode.Īlso, I need to know the login for the transmission controller, I have a full version of vag-com (hex-usb) and it won't let me touch the soft coding without logging in. I have found the sport mode threads and they say to set the soft coding to 00134 (north america, sport mode, fwd), but I don't know the correct way to disable the learning function. I would like to disable the learning function and set the transmission to sport mode. I have an 05 golf gls tdi, with tiptronic. This site's search function makes my brain hurt I _KNOW_ this has been asked and answered before but after extensive searching I just can't turn up the information I am looking for.
